Saga pedo is a large wingless katydid first discovered in western Tacheng by Xinjiang researchers in the summer of 1987 and later listed as a new recorded species in China.
The herd showed great care for the newborns. On hot days, adult horses would shield the foals from the sun, and if alarmed, they quickly encircled the young to protect them.
Once completed, this road will close a roughly 300-kilometre gap between the G217 line and the border, providing the first north-to-south corridor in Xinjiang.
